Day 1: Arrival in Paro – A Royal Welcome
Touch down at Paro International Airport, where your guide will greet you with a traditional white scarf (khadar) a Bhutanese symbol of peace and good fortune. After hotel check in, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples, and enjoy a gentle stroll through Paro town. A welcome dinner awaits you in traditional royal Bhutanese style.
Day 2: Thimphu – Royal Capital
Drive to Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital city, and begin your day at the National Institute for Zorig Chusum, where students preserve Bhutan’s 13 traditional arts. Continue to the Royal Heritage Museum and National Archives, where royal relics, thangkas, and rare manuscripts reveal the country’s transformation under its kings. End the day with a visit to Tashichho Dzong, the current seat of Bhutan’s King.
Day 3: Dechencholing Palace & Cultural Evening
Today, you’ll visit the Dechencholing Royal Palace grounds the former residence of Bhutan’s royal family. While the interior is off limits, the architecture, serene gardens, and royal history surrounding the palace offer insight into Bhutan’s royal lifestyle. In the evening, enjoy a themed cultural program focused on the monarchy’s legacy, complete with traditional music, dance, and royal-era attire.
Day 4: Punakha – The Ancient Capital
Travel through the scenic Dochula Pass, dotted with 108 chortens, en route to Punakha, the ancient capital of Bhutan. Visit the majestic Punakha Dzong, once the seat of power and the location of royal coronations. Stroll along the riverbanks and learn about Bhutan’s transition from monarchy to democracy through the architecture and murals within the dzong. Overnight in a charming riverside lodge.
Day 5: Return to Paro – Legacy in Art and Faith
