Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Paro – The Journey Begins

Arrive in Paro and receive a warm welcome from your guide. Drive to Thimphu, the capital, where you’ll ease into the rhythm of Bhutan with a short walking tour and cultural welcome dinner. Tonight, your guide will brief you on the sacred symbolism behind the upcoming festival.

Day 2: Sacred Sights of Thimphu

Visit iconic landmarks such as the Buddha Dordenma, Memorial Chorten, and Tashichho Dzong. At a local monastery, join monks for a quiet butter lamp offering a spiritual ritual of cleansing and compassion. In the evening, enjoy a guided talk on Bhutanese tantric traditions and protective deities.

Day 3: Journey to Bumthang – Into the Spiritual Core

Fly or drive (depending on weather) to Bumthang, the spiritual heart of Bhutan. Settle into your 200 year old farm house stay, where crackling fires and hearty local meals welcome you. This ancient valley, steeped in myth and mysticism, sets the stage for your deeper spiritual immersion.

Day 4: Exploring Bumthang’s Hidden Monasteries

Visit Jambay Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples. Continue to Kurjey Lhakhang, where Guru Rinpoche meditated. Later, hike through pine forests to meet a hermit lama who lives in retreat  an encounter that will leave you humbled and inspired. Return to your farmhouse for a traditional dinner and quiet reflection.

Day 5: Day One of the Jambay Lhakhang Fire Festival

Experience the first day of the Jambay Lhakhang Drup. Masked dancers whirl in sacred formations while locals gather in festive dress. The atmosphere is alive with chants, drums, and incense. Learn the meanings behind each ritual from your expert guide.

Day 6: Midnight Fire Ritual & Naked Dance Ceremony

Rest during the day or explore local markets. As night falls, prepare for the spiritual climax: the midnight fire ritual. Bonfires are lit, and the naked dances performed in secrecy are said to ward off evil and purify the community. It’s intense, powerful, and deeply symbolic.

Day 7: Leisure and Local Life

After a restful morning, enjoy time with your farmhouse hosts. Visit local weavers or take a leisurely riverside walk. In the evening, join a traditional hot stone bath and enjoy local storytelling about the fire festival’s origins.

Day 8: Return to Paro via Thimphu

Begin your return journey to Paro, stopping for photo breaks and short temple visits. Arrive in Paro by late afternoon and spend your final evening reminiscing over a farewell dinner with your guide and fellow travelers.

Day 9: Departure from Paro

Your spiritual journey ends, but the whispers of firelight, chants, and mountain winds will stay with you forever. Transfer to Paro Airport with your soul renewed.
