Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Paro  Acclimatization Begins

Arrive at Paro International Airport and transfer to Thimphu. A gentle sightseeing day includes a visit to the National Memorial Chorten and an evening briefing on your trek ahead. Overnight in a hotel with high altitude meal prep.

Day 2: Drive to Gasa Gateway to the Wild

Journey north through forested mountains to the remote region of Gasa, the starting point of your trek. Stop at Dochula Pass to see Himalayan vistas before reaching Gasa valley. Settle into a cozy local guesthouse and prepare gear.

Day 3: Trek to Koina Into the Wild

Begin your trek with a gradual ascent through pine and rhododendron forests. Reach Koina campsite, nestled in the wilderness beside a glacial stream. Camp under a starlit sky with dinner cooked by your expedition chef.

Day 4: Trek to Laya Enter the Highlands

Trek over a high pass with views of soaring peaks before descending into Laya, home of the Layap people. You’ll be greeted by locals in distinctive woven clothing and learn about their customs, music, and herbal knowledge.

Day 5: Cultural Immersion in Laya

Spend a full day in Laya village. Participate in a traditional meal preparation, try on Layap attire, and listen to stories about life in the high Himalayas. Optional visit to a local herbal healer and yak herder camps.

Day 6: Hike to Remote Viewpoint  Edge of the Sky

Take a short day hike to a high-altitude panoramic viewpoint near the Tibetan border. The view here is breathtaking  you’ll feel truly on the edge of the sky. Return to Laya for the night, warmed by yak butter tea and local hospitality.

Day 7: Trek Back to Koina  Downhill with Stories

Begin the return trek to Koina, retracing your steps but now with deeper insight into the land and culture. Spot wildlife such as blue sheep or even a Himalayan griffon soaring above. Camp once again beside the whispering forest.

Day 8: Trek to Gasa & Soak in Hot Springs

Reach Gasa Hot Springs, famous for their natural healing waters. After several days of trekking, you’ll enjoy a long, rejuvenating soak a traditional reward for Himalayan travelers. Overnight in a nearby guesthouse.

Day 9: Return to Punakha Valley of Warmth

Descend by vehicle into the lush Punakha Valley. Visit Punakha Dzong, one of Bhutan’s most beautiful fortresses. Tonight, enjoy a farewell dinner to celebrate your journey from the edge of the sky back to the fertile lowlands.

Day 10: Departure from Paro

Drive to Paro and transfer to the airport for departure. Leave with memories of wind-blown passes, warm highland smiles, and stories shared under starry skies.
