Arrive in Paro, where you’ll be warmly welcomed and transferred to your hotel. Begin your spiritual journey with a visit to Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most sacred temples in Bhutan. Light a butter lamp and receive a blessing for a peaceful journey. End the evening with a gentle walk through Paro town and a welcome dinner infused with local flavors.
Day 2: Paro to Thimphu – A Glimpse into Monkhood
Drive to the capital, Thimphu, and head straight to a hillside monastery to meet your spiritual guide a young monk who will introduce you to daily rituals, discipline, and the philosophy behind monastic life. You’ll observe chanting sessions, learn basic meditation techniques, and share a silent vegetarian lunch with the monastic community. Overnight stay in Thimphu.
Day 3: Life Inside a Monastery
Rise early to participate in a dawn prayer ritual, followed by tea with monks. Then hike to Tango Monastery, Bhutan’s most renowned monastic university. Along the trail, you’ll discuss the spiritual symbolism of nature with your guide. After reaching the monastery, enjoy a quiet moment of reflection, receive a personal blessing from a senior monk, and descend through pine forests back to Thimphu.
Day 4: Thimphu to Punakha – Spiritual Crossroads
Depart for Punakha via Dochula Pass, where you’ll stop to spin prayer wheels and admire the 108 chortens overlooking the Himalayan range. In Punakha, explore the majestic Punakha Dzong, a spiritual hub nestled between two rivers. Later, visit a riverside nunnery and engage in evening prayers with the resident nuns. Overnight in a traditional farmhouse lodge.
Day 5: Living Meditation & Blessings
Visit Chimi Lhakhang, the temple of fertility blessed by the Divine Madman. You’ll learn about spiritual symbolism and join pilgrims in rituals of devotion. In the afternoon, you’ll return to your lodge for a private guided meditation session led by a lama. Wrap the day with a cultural dinner and storytelling around a fire.
Day 6: Return to Paro – Reflections and Stillness
Journey back to Paro and stop for a forest walk and quiet contemplation along the way. In the evening, visit a village monastery for a traditional butter lamp ceremony, where you’ll offer light to remove inner and outer obstacles. Enjoy a hot stone bath to relax and restore your energy.
Day 7: Pilgrimage to Tiger’s Nest
Embark on the iconic pilgrimage hike to Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) a sacred site where Guru Rinpoche meditated. The climb is a mindful journey in itself, filled with prayer flags, chortens, and moments of stillness. At the top, you’ll feel a deep spiritual connection to the land. After descending, celebrate your journey with a farewell dinner hosted by your local guide.
Day 8: Departure – Carrying Peace Within
As you prepare for your departure, take one last moment of reflection. Whether it’s a prayer flag fluttering in the wind or the memory of a monk’s quiet smile, Bhutan stays with you. Your guide will escort you to Paro Airport with a farewell blessing and gratitude.
